About Joel's Journeys

Hi, I’m Joel, the founder and owner of Joel’s Journeys.

Joel’s Journeys was born from a lifelong love of the natural world and the endless adventures it offers. After living in various Australian states and overseas, I’m back to where I started, in my home state of Queensland, where I have found a home again here in Noosa. Noosa is easily my favourite town in the world. In addition to what’s within Noosa, it’s also what’s on the outskirts and surrounds of this amazing place that is truly heaven sent. Over the years I’ve been fortunate to have explored a large part of Australia and many incredible locations overseas and still nothing compares to the combined beauty and adventure on offer in Noosa, the hinterland, valleys and surrounds. I look forward to sharing with you an authentic taste of this paradise.

My guiding experience extends back to my uni days in Brisbane showing guests the best parts of the Gold Coast and Tamborine Mountains. More recently, since 2012 I had the pleasure of working for a highly-prized tour company in Melbourne named Go West Tours and the tour company they acquired, Bunyip Tours, where I racked up over 500 tours in 6 years to all the hotspots outside of Melbourne. I’ve guided various Intrepid Travel 5-day adventures including the more recent Walk the Scenic Rim and Cycle South East Queensland.

My outdoor experience is inherent in my love of the outdoors and all the adventures it offers, where I’m always partaking in some sort of outdoor activity. I’m a qualified outdoor instructor/guide in many outdoor activities, including those I offer through Joel’s Journeys. I have a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation, Wilderness First Aid, and currently completing a Bachelor of Environmental Management. I’ve also worked as an outdoor instructor for an adventure company of recent times.  

Joel’s Journeys is a golden opportunity to show people from Australia and abroad my favourite destinations in a way I believe to be most rewarding. It also provides an avenue for me to give back to the natural world and the local tourism industry by donating 10% of the profits to local conservation efforts and other worthy projects that are protecting what wilderness we have left. As much as I would love to have an electric bus to run these tours, the reality of this is quite a way off, therefore we will be making sure we are at the very least a carbon neutral business.
